Grief-Informed Organizing: Creating Healing Spaces While Supporting Clients Through Loss
Event Details
This presentation explores the intersection of grief and our physical environments. It focuses specifically on the impact
grief has on our daily routines, decision-making, brain chemistry and home organization tasks. This talk is primarily
designed for professional organizers, but is relevant to anyone working in a client's home. During this presentation, I
will provide strategies for building trust with clients who are experiencing grief and how to guide them through the
decision-making process of going through belongings with sensitivity and care. Grief is often associated with the loss of
a loved one, but I will highlight different types of loss and how each person's grief journey is unique. By integrating grief
informed practices, organizers can support clients to help them gain control of their spaces, process emotions, honor
memories and create a home environment that promotes healing.
