NAPO Virtual: Sustainable Organizing - What Is It and Why It Matters

Event Info

Webinar for professional organizers that includes practical tips, insightful strategies, and actionable steps to reduce your environmental footprint and cultivate sustainable habits that last a lifetime. The information will help guide attendees to live a more eco-conscious life, by taking small, approachable actions. None of us are perfect, but we all have the power to start making small changes today that impact our lives and businesses today.

The presentation aims to give participants Sustainable solutions that will allow them to optimize their space as well as those of their clients with sustainable actions. The goal is to walk away with tangible actions that can be taken to improve the environment that supports organizers while also enabling sustainable actions that can be used for clients. Cathy will discuss how small actions she has taken daily have helped her transition her life and business through some major hurdles. She will discuss how our small actions can help change the trajectory of climate change and our ability to enable a better environment for today and future generations. She will remind us that self-sustainability is where the real actions must start and why it matters. We all must walk the talk to have the biggest impact. She will discuss actions and ideas across the 4 basic principles of sustainability: Human / Person – What does happiness in your space look like? What are your routines? Are you making time to take care of yourself and make you sustainable? Economic – Find new uses for what you already have. What drives your buying decisions? Environmental – Environmental sustainability aims to minimize the impact on natural resources and the best way to follow this guidance is to reuse. Social – While social seems like it would not have a place in organizing sustainably, it is usually one of the reasons why we collect so much stuff. Many family members have so much of their own stuff that they do not want to think about taking more stuff.
