Organizing Dead People, Session 2-3

Judith Kolberg

Organizing Dead People sounds irreverent, but this is a workshop that honors clients who die by providing for the respectful and compassionate “de-acquisition” or organization of their possessions. It provides practical information for working with Executors and grieving family members who are overwhelmed by the amount and variety of “stuff” left behind by a person who excessively saves. You'll get a generic overview of the role of the Executor, what estate sales/liquidators do versus the services you can provide, and how to help an Executor separate the treasures from the trash and everything in between. If your client base includes leading-edge baby boomers, vet generation seniors, or the children who love them, this workshop is for you. We'll even discuss marketing ideas for this unique organizing service.

  • Session attendees will learn the market for unique services to help the family and executor of our clients who pass away
  • Information about how to form relations with executors of estates will be elaborated so that attendees can extend their current residential organizing offerings to include these unique services
  • A variety of de-acquisition methods will be taught, appropriate to organizing, decluttering and settling an estate
