NAPO member was born to organize

After reading an article about professional organizing in “O Magazine” that featured Oprah Winfrey’s professional organizer, “I almost cried,” a NAPO member says. “It was as though someone had been following me around all of my life and writing down all the things that I had done. I have always been accused of being obsessively organized in my bedroom at home and in the sorority house at college. Getting things the way they should appear in the room was always a priority.”

Getting started with NAPO

Although she had been organizing all of her life — in her personal life and the lives of friends and family — it wasn’t until her corporate position was eliminated through downsizing that she decided to take the professional organizer plunge. She started her own business, because, “I seem to instinctively know where things belong and how to arrange items in the most efficient manner,” she says. “I also learned a lot of specialties from working over 20 years in corporate settings, such as filing systems, mail and paper management, and office systems.”

A calling

Being a professional organizer is who this NAPO member is. This career defines her like no other profession could. “I was born to do it,” she says. “My parents always say it was my calling. I am only sorry it was not a viable business 20 years ago. I am so happy it is now!”

Thanks to NAPO’s support, networking and credibility, along with her years of experience, this member is one of the profession’s many success stories. She offers clients an “innate instinct for what is correct and how to get it done quickly. The clients then benefit from having a room that was disorganized become a room full of comfort, beauty and joy to be in.”
